Birthday weekend continued...

So today we went to Scott's lifelong friend Chris' little boys First Birthday party. We got there a little late, as Carter was napping when the party started. So we let him sleep and took a very happy boy to the party!

His new thing is to yell and scream excitedly when we pass a pasture because he just knows there must be either cows or horses in there! So he neighs or moos like a cow and then starts clicking as if he is calling them to him! He gets this from his Nana and I when we call her horse to the fence at there farm! He associates all pastures with horses or cows because that is what it is like on the way to Nana and Papa's house!

So when we got to the party as usual Carter jumped right in and started playing with all of the toys and did not really care who else was there. After a few people left and it got a little more quiet he decided he really like to play with the Birthday boy and another little boy. Of course he loves jumping and balls so he loved the jumpy house with balls. He also got to play with a kitchen set that was outside. He thought this was really cool because it talked to you and made all sorts of sounds! We may have a chef and soccer player both on our hands!!! I hope everyone enjoyed the outdoors as much as we did today!

Now I must get ready for our beach trip this week! Sooooo excited to see how Carter responds this year! I'm sure chasing a 19 month old around the pool will not be too relaxing!! But I won't be at work and I'll be with family...enough said! Stayed tuned for an update when we get back! (I'm really trying to stay up to date on our little family so Lou Ellen doesn't delete us!!!)

Mr. Independent

So littleman is keeping us on our toes! He has this new little shrill and squeel he does now. He does it for happy times, frustrated times, and mad times. It's really cute when he's happy and super annoying when he is mad!

Today we went to our friend Ella's 2nd birthday party! It's so hard to believe she is 2 now! Of course it's even harder to say I have a 19 month old. I've been calling him 18 months since about 16 months b/c I thought it was close enough. Yesterday I checked the date and thought wow now I have to call him 19 months b/c he is just getting so big! I can't believe how fast my baby is growing! So at Ella's party today Carter was the only boy! So he jumped right in and even "danced" with the birthday girl! They are so cute together!

Carter has started showing his own likes and dislikes a little bit more here recently. For example at the table when you give him something he doesn't want to eat he shakes his head no and makes the above mentioned squeel. Today I caught him sitting in my glider in his room, which I guess makes it "his" glider in his room! He saw me come around the corner and gave me a big smile, as to say, "check me out rocking myself in my room"!!! So then he reached up to his book shelf and asked for a book. I preceeded to go through most of them getting a head shake of no and the squeel. So I put all of the books on the floor and he played for another 45 minutes reading to himself! He is so adorable!

Tomorrow we are off to another birthday party with friends we have not seen in a while. We are looking forward to it! Maybe I'll actually remember to take my camera out and I can post some pics with the next post!

Working Mama Guilt

So this post goes out to all working mothers or mothers who must spend time away from their children. I know I'm not the only mother in the world who must leave there child to make money to help pay bills. I also know I'm not the only one who really hates missing any part of their child's "awake time". I just really had a hard time with it earlier this week. I started working 5 days a week between 2 offices this week and still continuing to work PRN at the hospital. After a grumpy Easter Sunday with Carter he decides to throw a huge fit when I left for work on Monday. He was sooo upset. To see him this upset made me want to call in to work and just sit and hold him all day long. But I am leaving him with the best person in the world...his Daddy. I trust his Daddy 100%, I just want to be the one at home all day. So after sitting in our subdivision club house parking lot for 10 minutes crying my eyes out over what I had just witnessed I drove on in to work. I texted my husband about 20 minutes later and Carter was still crying. This upset me even more. I just hate for my littleman to be upset. So 5 minutes later I learned he had stopped. I spent that night on the phone crying to my Mama about how awful it was and how I wish I could be the one to stay home. She told me what all good mother's tell their children, "you are doing what is best for your family. Atleast he is not in daycare right now and you are leaving him with his Daddy." I know she's right, but most Mom's I know would prefer to be the one's at home all day. Now that being said I know Scott's job is waaaaay more difficult than mine, but I would trade any day.
OK, sorry I just had to blog that out to help me get out the rest of my Working Mama Guilt. Anyone with any insight on how to help yourself cope with this let me know!!! Thanks for listening... or reading.

Easter Update

So this was Carter's 2nd Easter but he had no clue last year! So we bought him his first Easter basket! It was so fun to watch him get all excited about his Elmo books, sidewalk chalk, bubble wand, and Alvin and the Chipmunks movie!!! This was a great morning. Daddy, Carter, and I all went out early in the morning to play with our new toys from the Easter bunny! We ate lunch and when I laid Carter down he decided this was the first day he ever wanted to skip a nap. He played in his crib for more than 2 hours. So I went in after 2 hours to rock him to see if he would sleep. NOPE, he just smiled and laughed at me while we cuddled for 30 minutes! Little booger! So we went to Mimi and Poppi's for Easter dinner with a crabby 18 month old! He did pretty good considering, but he was asleep on is way to bed before he hit the mattress!
Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Our First REAL egg hunt!!!

So today I get to spend the entire day with my littleman! I was so excited, but as usual he expects me to leave during the day to go to work so any time I stand up to walk around the house for some reason, Carter starts whining and crying wanting me to hold him. So to prove to him I was his for the day I thought we would leave the house. So we go to the mall and run into a friend. Thank goodness b/c then he had a little friend to share his cheerios with! Then we took a nap and woke up even more cranky then before nap...never a good sign! So we had an afternoon planned to go to our same friends house to do an Easter egg hunt! Scott and I were excited b/c this would be our first egg hunt Carter can participate in. We weren't really sure how he would do but...he was the second off the porch and was having a ball collecting those eggs! Of course he ended up sitting in a wagon with his little friend and playing with the eggs! I will post pics tomorrow night, too stinkin' cute how these two enjoy playing together! I will add to this post tomorrow after Easter and add some pics! Just want to make sure I stay up on my postings!!!
Happy Easter everyone!

Spring Weather and Scraped Knees...

OK so we now have a new computer and I should be able to do this more often AND with pictures!!!
The weather has just been beautiful this week! I have had to work 4 days but every second I'm not at work I'm lovin' on my boys!!! Carter started gymnastics a few weeks ago. Now I know some of you are thinking, "I would NEVER put my SON in gymnastics." I used to same the same thing. There just are not any activities that an 18 month old can do. Carter will be starting preschool in the fall. I'm a little scared for him to go into a class of strange children and take orders from strange women when the only people who ever "watch" him are Scott and I!!! So this is a way for him to learn how to interact with other children and learn to take instructions from a "teacher" while Mommy is still right there!!! So we go once per week. He is doing so great! Now we are not in this to produce a Gold Medal Gymnast or anything but I'm so proud of him. He is the youngest by a full year and he is doing what the "big" kids are doing! They part that most excites me is he is actually listening to his teacher and doing what she is asking! It is so amazing to watch my baby boy grow into the most adorable toddler EVER!!!
Scott and I got to do something we have looked forward to for more than 7 years now last night. We left Carter at home asleep in his bed with Mimi on watch to go shopping for his Easter basket!!! I have always wanted a little family that we could do all of those magic things parents do...like be or "help" the Easter bunny!!! I am enjoying being Carter's mother more and more with literally every day that passes. Being a Mother is the best title in the world.
I have to say that I start working 5 days a week next week for the first time since Carter was born and I am so going to miss my little man, and the big one too!!! Weekends will be even more precious. I am so thankful that his wonderful and amazing Daddy does such a great job during the week while I'm at work! Afterall who else would I want him to be with if it can't be me? Scott is truly amazing in all that he does. Carter will one day realize how lucky he is to have so much time to spend with his Daddy! I love watching the two of them together!!!
Tonight we were all outside playing with bubbles on the picnic table in the front yard. Carter managed to trip on the driveway and skin his knee and leg and then fell off the picnic table straight onto his back and hit his head on the concrete. It was so much worse for me and Scott than it was him. He was mostly upset about being away from his bubbles while Mommy was trying to comfort him. He is most certainly a big boy. He is running all over the place now!
Well now that we have a better computer I will upload some pics to the next post! Happy Easter to everyone and be safe traveling!!!
